This is Ivan. He is 20. He lives with a wild group of young men. One of his roommates had been given to the sisters as a referral, but whenever they went by he was never there. That is how they got talking to Ivan. They started having lessons at one of his friend's house--who is a member. He just got it from the start. One day they gave him a "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet. The next time they went by he had taken out his ear ring--it was not something they even pointed out. I went with the sisters for a few of his lessons (they have to have three of them to teach a single man and one of the other sisters was on exchanges). He was delighted to talk about tithing-the word of wisdom-fasting-He has felt the spirit confirm the truth of what he has heard, and what he is living. He says he can be like Nephi and be strong even when others around him aren't. What a great example of not only faith, but acting on his faith. His baptism was this last Saturday.

Hooray for Ivan! I remember your earlier post about going to help teach him. What a great story, what a great work. I hope he will get to hear Conference, that can help to strengthen him.
ReplyDeleteI love his humility-he sets an example for us all.
