Where am I???
Jasmine was invited to go to New York City a couple of weeks ago to be interviewed for an internship this summer. She flew there and then caught the subway downtown to have a look around. She decided that while she had the chance, she would go to one of the musicals. She went and saw wicked. After wicked, she jumped on the subway again, to find her way back to the hotel. The hotel was in the Wall Street area, so it wasn't a really busy place late at night. So here she was after 11:00am, by herself in NYC and then realized she got off on the wrong subway stop. So she gave me a call at home. "Mom, help, what do I do, I don't know where I am. Where should I go. Can you pull up a map?". So I pulled up a map of New York City, and this one showed all the buildings, all the parks, etc... It's like I was right there. She gave me the name of the street she was on, and the cross street she was by. I could look on the map and see exactly where she was. I realized very quickly she was heading in the wrong direction, so I had her turn around and told her how many blocks to go and where to turn left or right. I told her at one point that there was a park and to be sure that there wasnt anyone loitering around there. It was so easy for me to see exactly where she was. She however was surrounded by the tall buildings and had no idea--she just trusted what I told her. She followed my instructions very carefully and after some time we got her to the hotel. She was very relieved to get in, and I was too! Afterward, I was thinking about it, and I couldn't help but think how that experience can be compared to our life here on earth. Here we are here on earth. What we see is sometimes very limited-we dont have the "bird-eye" view like I had on the computer. In fact, sometimes we don't really understand anything about what is going on around us. If we can turn to our Heavenly Father in prayer to seek his guidance, and turn to a living prophet, we can receive guidance from someone who sees much more clearly where we are and where we need to go. The gospel can give us a roadmap with much clearer directions as to where we should turn, helping us make the choices we should make to get us safely to where we need to go.
